JOB TITLE: Director, Diligence and Acquisitions
DEPARTMENT: Finance
REPORTS TO: CFO/COO
LOCATION: Hybrid (Remote and onsite in Vienna, VA)
SCHEDULE: 2 Days a week from home and 3 days a week onsite (9am – 5pm)
Overview: SolaREIT’s mission is to acquire, develop, & manage climate-friendly solar and storage assets that support the transformation to a low-carbon economy. We are looking for an individual passionate about renewable energy to join our close-knit, dynamic team who is excited by a high-growth opportunity with a well-funded and rapidly growing organization. The Director, reporting to the CFO, will be responsible for managing diligence and leading the closing process for SolaREIT’s investments in real estate under battery storage and solar projects. The role requires experience leading due diligence and managing acquisitions or financings for solar or energy storage projects. The Director will be able to review all aspects of projects, with the support of technical consultants and legal counsel, to assess and mitigate commercial risk. The right candidate will have superior communication skills, the ability to manage multiple transactions at once, and attention to detail.

Core Job Responsibilities:
Due Diligence for new real estate investments.
Review project information, such as site leases, financial models, IE reports, interconnection agreements, surveys, supplier contracts, offtake contracts, and construction schedules, to ensure SolaREIT’s underwriting standards are met.
Synthesize all project information to assess risk. Flag risks to management and propose mitigants.
Coordinate with real estate counsel on title and real estate matters.
Work with the investor relations team to ensure that the diligence process aligns with financing party requirements.
Manage external technical, commercial, and policy resources as needed.
Finalize checklists, diligence reviews and investment committee memos for internal investment approval.
Coordinate closing for new projects with the customer and legal resources. Clearly communicate CPs to closing and timeline.
Work with external counsel and internal legal resources to maintain closing checklists and clearly communicate timelines to investment counterparties.
Work with external counsel to finalize commercially acceptable title policies for SolaREIT.
Communicate closing timelines to our Corporate Finance team to ensure that they can meet all capital requirements for closing.
Support capital raise efforts with respect to project level diligence.

What You Need to be Successful:
3+ years of project finance, M&A, or project development experience in solar or energy storage. MBA preferred.
Understanding of project development, construction, and financing risk and ability to mitigate exposure to those risks.
Familiarity with the commercial aspects of contracts required to develop, build and finance a solar or battery storage project (PPAs, interconnection agreements, site leases, permits, etc.)
Ability to lead closings as an individual performer with many different stakeholders to achieve a goal.
Excellent communication and project management skills. Ability to build relationships with customers, adapt closing process to their needs and communicate diligence needs and timelines.
Strong financial modeling skills in excel.

The Analyst will be involved with financial planning for the growing company, responding to requests from financing partners, and supporting cash management activities including loan facility draws. At SolaREIT, you'll have the freedom to bring your ideas to the table and make decisions that matter. You'll work alongside a talented team of professionals who are passionate about solar energy and the future of solar finance.

· Respond to the business development teams’ requests for pricing land purchases lease purchases and loans for property under operating or planned solar projects
· Research local tax rates and other areas of return risk
· Support on project acquisitions and debt closings
· Be responsible for accurate and timely input of new project information into data management systems
