This June, we are pleased to spotlight Chris Cavanaugh, Director of Investments at SolaREIT, whose background in infrastructure investing brings valuable insight and strategic depth to our growing company. 

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.

I am based in New York City and have spent eight years working across different areas of core-plus infrastructure investing. Over that time, I have developed a deep understanding of how capital flows through complex energy and infrastructure assets, and I have built experience evaluating opportunities across the risk and return spectrum. That foundation is what drew me to the work we do at SolaREIT. 

What inspired you to join SolaREIT?

SolaREIT has positioned itself uniquely to succeed in the increasingly competitive and rapidly consolidating world of power and energy infrastructure. In an environment where many firms are still finding their footing, SolaREIT has a clear and differentiated sense of the value it brings to the market. That clarity of purpose and strategic focus was very attractive to me. 

What has been your most rewarding experience at SolaREIT?

Being able to solve unique challenges across different deals is incredibly rewarding. No two situations are exactly alike, and finding creative solutions that move a deal forward requires real collaboration and critical thinking. What makes it especially meaningful is that you are driving that impact alongside a team that is genuinely invested in getting it right. 

How do you see the future of renewable energy and SolaREIT's role in it?

Demand for renewable power will continue to outpace any headwinds the industry may face. The structural drivers, electrification, data center growth, and energy security are too significant to ignore, and the long-term trajectory is clear. What I find compelling about SolaREIT's position is that we are not dependent on any single segment winning. As long as demand for power continues to climb, SolaREIT is well positioned to benefit from that momentum. 

What has surprised you most about working at SolaREIT?

The team works very efficiently, and that operational discipline makes a real difference in a fast-moving deal environment. There is a strong culture of execution and collaboration that keeps everyone aligned even when things get busy. When you are working on complex deals, knowing that the people around you will show up and deliver without losing focus is invaluable, and that has consistently been my experience here.
