At SolaREIT, our mission to accelerate the clean energy transition is powered by the talented individuals behind the work. Each month, we highlight a team member whose expertise and dedication help move our projects forward. This March, we are pleased to spotlight Natalie Clark, Paralegal at SolaREIT, whose experience in renewable energy finance and legal operations strengthens our growing platform.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.
I currently live in Vienna, Virginia, with my husband, son, and golden retriever. I moved to the Washington, D.C. area more than 15 years ago to be closer to my siblings, and it is where I began my career in renewables as a paralegal in tax credit finance.
From there, I transitioned into a portfolio finance role focused on community solar for developers, where I gained significant experience working with financing parties throughout the development process. After taking a rewarding hiatus to raise my son, I returned to the renewable energy space, this time focusing again on the legal side of the industry.
What inspired you to join SolaREIT?
When I saw an opening at a local renewable energy company, I immediately wanted to learn more. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I was already familiar with members of the leadership team and had worked with some of them previously.
SolaREIT’s business model stood out to me. It aligns closely with my background and experience in renewable energy finance. I also listened to Laura Pagliarulo’s podcasts, which further inspired me to take the leap and join the team.
What has been your most rewarding experience at SolaREIT?
Working with such a supportive and dynamic team has been incredibly rewarding. Everyone works hard toward a shared goal while also maintaining and encouraging a healthy work-life balance.
How do you see the future of renewable energy and SolaREIT’s role in it?
Renewable energy is here to stay, especially as battery storage continues to rise. There is a growing demand for cleaner, more sustainable energy sources, and I believe this trend will continue to rise.
SolaREIT’s leadership is focused on the future and positioned to adapt and thrive, even amid political and regulatory challenges facing the industry.
What has surprised you most about working at SolaREIT?
The company may be small, but it is powerful. As part of the legal department, I have the opportunity to engage with every team across the organization. I am continually impressed by how much the team accomplishes and how efficiently we work to serve our clients.
What do you enjoy doing outside of the office?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and supporting my son’s various sports and activities. I love being outdoors and working in the garden. I am also an amateur potter, so whether it is clay or soil, I enjoy getting my hands dirty.
